This summer, Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity will welcome 2 Blitz Build sponsor groups. Our Blitz Build program gives volunteer groups the opportunity to build in a week a whole house or partial house for a Partner Family. This is a unique opportunity in that it allows volunteers to work alongside and interact with the family over the course of the week making the volunteer experience more personal.
The week of June 13th – 19th, Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) from Maryland will sponsor a Partial House Blitz Build. They will be working alongside Chad and Tanya Wright and their 4 children on their four-bedroom home. From raising the walls to installing the windows and doors, CCPC and the Wrights will complete the frame of the house over the course of the week.
Hinsdale Central High School Habitat for Humanity Club from Illinois will Blitz Build a whole house the week of July 25th – 31st. Hinsdale students have been coming to volunteer for many years and this year will be their 4th Blitz Build. The students will work alongside the Souza family on their four-bedroom home. At the end of the week, the exterior of the Souza’s home will be complete and the interior ready for electricity, plumbing and dry wall.
Our Blitz Build program allows us to serve more families in a faster time period. The volunteer groups that come from all over the U.S. to serve the hard-working families of Eastern West Virginia are the backbone of our operation.
