Home > The Work We Do

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard poverty housing and homelessness, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people of all faiths and races to create and improve communities for people in need by building and renovating houses and creating homeownership opportunities.

New Home Construction

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity builds homes in partnership with low-income families in need. Our self-help construction model brings together volunteers of all skill levels and future homeowners to work side-by-side to construct safe, decent, affordable homes. After the construction is complete each home is then sold to a low-income family in need utilizing Habitat for Humanity’s no-profit, no-interest mortgage terms. Learn More >

Helping families to make minor repairs such as upgrading their insulation, caulking and air seal, installing low flow showerheads and faucet aerators monthly utility costs can be reduced as much as 50%. Weatherizing homes not only improves occupant comfort and improves indoor air quality, it enables families to permanently reduce their energy bills resulting in savings which can be used for other basic needs. Neighborhood Revitalizaton

Our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative helps to rebuild and restore communities that have fallen into a state of disrepair or are suffering the effects of blight and foreclosure. Habitat for Humanity concentrates its efforts on the repair and building of homes and in some instances tearing down substandard housing units to clear the way for the construction of new homes. By utilizing a combination of all of our services targeted in these at-risk neighborhoods, we are able to make larger and more lasting impact. Learn More >

Community Projects

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity works in cooperation with many other non-profits community-based organizations in helping to fulfill our mission. Many low-income families in the communities that we serve seek assistance for food, clothing, and medical care. Over the past 20 years we have helped non-profits that provide these sorts of services to expand their facilities or just help them to make repairs to their buildings. By working together, we strengthen each other, because often solutions to family, community and organizational sustainability are found within the very communities themselves. Learn More >
