About Almost Heaven
Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working with local communities across the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries around the world. Established in 1976 in Americus, GA, Habitat has since grown to serve more than 35 million people through new home construction, rehabilitation and repair programs globally (2020).
Putting God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat is a Christian organization that unites people of all religions and no religion. We see every human as our neighbor and make opportunities to work alongside one another and build affordable communities together. We know that housing is important to the quality of life, health and economic prosperity of individuals, and the broader community. We are building the world we want to see — a world where everyone has a decent, affordable place to call home.
Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity was organized in 1988 and incorporated on August 1, 1989 to eliminate substandard, unsafe housing for residents in Pendleton County, WV. In 2010 Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity merged with volunteer-led Habitat for Humanity of Greenbrier County to collectively serve Pendleton, Pocahontas, and Greenbrier counties. We opened the White Sulphur Springs ReStore and moved operations to Greenbrier County in 2014. In 2018 found our current home in Lewisburg, WV. Our Restore and headquarters are located at 1687 N Jefferson St.
Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity has worked alongside volunteers and future homeowners to build, renovate, and repair homes in southeastern West Virginia for more than 35 years, building over 345 homes. Habitat partners with individuals and families to build homes, create financial freedom, and keep communities affordable. Our homes are sold at no profit, with 0% interest mortgages. The money from the sale of each house supports more affordable housing opportunities in our community.
